After a highly anticipated return to boxing, Mike Tyson revealed he had smoked cannabis prior to his fight with Roy Jones Jr.
At age 54, 'Iron' Mike Tyson returned to the ring after a fifteen years hiatus since his last fight, to box with Roy Jones Jr. at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.
Tyson has had a tumultuous history with drugs, having been charged with a DUI and possession of drugs in December 2006, however, now the boxing legend uses one drug only; cannabis.
In fact, Mike Tyson recently admitted to having smoked cannabis prior to his recent fight with Roy Jones Jr., stating in a post-fight press conference:
Listen, I can't stop smoking. I smoke during fights… I just have to smoke, I'm sorry. I'm a smoker. I smoke every day. I never stopped smoking.Mike Tyson
The boxing legend then went on to say that "it's just who I am. It has no effect on me from a negative standpoint. It's just what I do and how I am and how I'm going to die. There's no explanation. There's no beginning, there's no end."
Tyson's cannabis use isn't just personal, but rather, he created his own cannabis company called Tyson Holistic Holdings established in 2016. Since then, Tyson changed the name to The Ranch Companies.
"Iron Mike" announced last year that his company would be opening a holiday resort—which is presently known as Tyson Ranch—aimed specifically at cannabis users in the near future.
While the luxury resort is still in the process of being built—with initial construction beginning in 2017—on a 400-acre site in the Desert Hot Springs, California, when complete it will function as a "Disneyland" for cannabis users.
The fight between Tyson and Jones Jr. resulted in a draw, prompting Tyson to say that he "could've done everything better."
"Everything I was doing I could've done it better, so God willing, I'll be better the next exhibition.
