Renowned rapper and record producer Jay-Z has entered the bourgeoning cannabis space with his new brand 'Monogram.'
Jay-Z has joined a litany of other stars that have recently entered the cannabis and CBD industry, including Dan Bilzerian, Martha Stewart, Magic Johnson, Kristen Bell, Mike Tyson, and many others, through the rapper and music producers new company called 'Monogram.'
Jay-Z's brand was created through a collaboration with the Californian cannabis company 'Caliva,' which sells and delivers a wide range of cannabis form factors including raw flower, oils, and vaporizers.
Accompanying the release of Shawn 'Jay-Z' Carter's new brand, the musician released a new playlist on his streaming platform, Tidal, which he has dubbed "Monogram: Sounds From the Grow Room". The playlist features prominent musicians and vocal cannabis enthusiasts such as Bob Marley, Rihanna, and The Beatles.
Very little information currently exists surrounding Jay-Z's new cannabis brand, other than a short paragraph on Caliva's website which states that "Monogram marks a new chapter in cannabis defined by dignity, care, and consistency. It is a collective effort to bring you the best, and a humble pursuit to discover what the best truly means."
Speaking on why he chose to create Monogram, and why he partnered with Caliva, Jay-Z stated that "anything I do, I want to do correctly and at the highest level."
"With all the potential in the cannabis industry, Caliva's expertise and ethos make them the best partners for this endeavor. We want to create something amazing, have fun in the process, do good and bring people along the way."
The cannabis industry continues to move into the mainstream, having been federally legalized in Canada, made legal in 11 states in the U.S. with the potential of several others being added to the list this November, and with New Zealand finding out the results of its cannabis referendum in the coming fortnight.
As the industry begins to shed the stigma that once surrounded it, more celebrities continue to come out in public support of the plant and its benefits.
