As a cannabis consumer, knowing which strain to purchase is super important in delivering the type of experience you want. Different strains produce different effects and people like different things. Some consumers prefer the mind-stimulating effects typical of sativa strains, while others prefer the stoney body high that is typical of indica strains.
If you like to mix and match then hybrids might be for you. A lot of strains on the market these days are simply just all-rounders, created to maximise the best effects that the plant produces. This next strain is just one of many new strains with a well-balanced profile of effects. Our guide to 2020's most popular strains continues with the Do-Si-Dos Strain.
Do-Si-Dos is an indica-dominant hybrid strain from Archive Seed Bank. It was created by combining Face Off OG, a potent indica, with OGKB, a GSC strain phenotype. This strain has many of the GSC strain's best features, such as its aroma, with strong body effects contributed by the Face Off OG genetics.
Do-Si-Dos is incredibly pungent and has effects that seem to last for longer than the average hybrid. While it can be soothing, it is also fairly potent, even for experienced cannabis consumers. This strain produces a strong and punchy buzz that sends waves of relaxation throughout the body.
This strain can stimulate you and enhance experiences but the calming body high will prevent you from feeling too buzzy. So while this strain might not make you get up and dance, it will help you to relax and enjoy watching others do-si-dos. With this combination of effects, Do-Si-Dos is highly regarded as a well-balanced hybrid and suitable for a range of different cannabis consumers.
The average THC content of the Do-Si-Dos strain is around 20% THC, with a typical range of 18-22%. A THC content of 20% is about on par for some of the high-end boutique strains, but keep in mind that it is usually the more experienced cannabis consumers who purchase these strains. This strain is quite potent and is not recommended for novice cannabis consumers. No relevant amounts of CBD are found within this strain.
Do-Si-Dos' psychoactive effects will hit consumers quickly. After consumption, your face will feel tingly while the cerebral stimulation commences. Thoughts can flow quickly and freely in this time, which can aid concentration on task-based or analytical types of work. An uptick in creative processes can also occur. Although this can be intense at the start, the calming body high prevents this cerebral stimulation from being too overwhelming. This relaxation comes on slowly but gets progressively stronger as it travels through the core and into the limbs.
This strain can provide a great headspace for introspective thinking. Alternatively, it can produce a social vibe that can spark conversation. This strain can enhance experiences such as exercising and dancing and in the right setting, it can even be aphrodisiacal. As the high progresses, however, full-body relaxation and sedation come on strongly, resulting in a calm state of immobilisation. For this reason, this strain is recommended for evening or nighttime use.
Do-Si-Dos' combination of effects gives this strain a fair few medical applications. This strain's physical effects can be analgesic, relieving aches and pains, whether they are chronic or caused by inflammatory conditions like arthritis. In some cases, these anti-inflammatory effects can help to relieve headaches, migraines and even nausea.
This strain's psychological effects can temporarily improve symptoms related to stress and depression. As it can inspire some intense and introspective thinking in the early stages of its high, this strain is not recommended for consumers who are prone or predisposed to feelings of panic and paranoia. In the later stages of the high there is potent relaxation and sedation, so a large number of consumers utilise this strain to help manage insomnia, with a good night's sleep being a frequently cited benefit.
Appearance, Smell & Taste
Do-Si-Dos has a typical indica appearance, with flowers that have a dense structure and leaves that curl tightly inwards. Buds of this strain are small in size and congregate in small popcorn-like clusters. These buds are a lime green colour and covered in bright orange pistils. Sometimes hues of purple can be found on the buds due to a process in which these pigments are activated by cold temperatures during the growing phase. These buds are covered in a thick coat of icy trichomes, which are indicative of their potency.
Do-Si-Dos is an incredibly pungent strain with an aroma that is sweet, earthy and floral. While there are some traces of the GSC genetics in this strain's aroma, Do-Si-Dos' flowers have a sweeter and more fermented odour. The Face Off OG genetics contributes to this strain's dynamic terpene profile with the floral notes. The main terpenes present in this strain are limonene (citrusy), caryophyllene (peppery) and linalool (floral).
The buds of this strain taste how they smell, so if you enjoy one, you'll enjoy the other. This strain has a strong earthy flavour with hints of sweetness. Subtle notes of citrus and pine can also be detected on the exhale. These strong-smelling buds can produce a harsh and bitter smoke upon combustion, so vaporising is the recommended method of consumption for this strain.
Do-Si-Dos is a strain out of Oregon's Archive Seed Bank. They haven't released much information on the original Do-Si-Dos strain but they carry it non-feminised seed form. Archive Seed Bank are currently working on a line of phenotypes, namely Do-Si-Dos #9, #18 and #22.
Do-Si-Dos #9 has dense, resinous buds with a cookie flavour. It is the most potent of the three. Do-Si-Dos #18 also has a thick coat of resin with a strong OG Kush aroma. Lastly, Do-Si-Dos #22 has aromatic purple buds with a grape flavour. The seeds for these phenotypes are all currently available.
Although the seeds are available to purchase online, this strain is still considered exceptional. As such, dispensary prices can still be quite high, but not ridiculous. In a North American dispensary, a gram of Do-Si-Dos will cost approximately $25 AUD. In Amsterdam, this strain is a bit harder to find and will cost approximately $35 AUD for a gram.
Some similar strains to Do-Si-Dos include Purple Punch, Tahoe OG Kush, Pre-98 Bubba Kush and Master Kush.
Thanks to its profile of effects and numerous medical benefits, Do-Si-Dos is a well-rounded strain. Its enjoyable high and ability to manage a wide range of ailments are making this strain popular amongst a variety of different cannabis consumers. That type of versatility is important in today's market and is the reason why Do-Si-Dos is a strain to watch in 2020.
